Queensland Museum is a dynamic state-wide organisation that enriches the cultural, social and intellectual life of Queensland communities. We are the custodian of Queensland’s natural and cultural heritage with a unique collection and respected workforce. Our diverse team of almost 380 people across five iconic locations feature scientists, curators, collection managers, conservators, visitor experience and retail staff, exhibition designers, producers, photographers, administrators and operational staff.
Most available positions in the museums' organisational streams of Collections, Research and Exhibitions, Corporate Services, Museums and Engagement, and Office of the CEO are advertised on the Queensland Government's Smart Jobs website. If you are interested in Visitor Experience, Retail or Food and Beverage positions complete our expression of interest form. These positions are 7 day rostered positions as our museums are open 7 days a week welcoming visitors. Working outside normal working hours, including weekends, and public holidays, will be essential.
In pursuing our vision, Queensland Museum is committed to the following guiding values:
As ‘the face of the museum’ Visitor Experience Officers (VEOs) extend a warm welcome to the museum and are responsible for delivering exceptional customer service. Your friendly, authentic and enlightening visitor interactions will help to create a memorable experience – one that leaves every visitor feeling inspired, enriched and empowered.
In our regional campuses VEO's may also work in the coffee shop or in retail, giving you a great variety in the tasks you will do.
Three of our campuses have cafe and events teams who go the extra mile to make sure the visitor's experience of food and drink is amazing. Indeed our Queensland Museum Cobb+Co has won awards in this space.
We need staff who are flexible and able to work shifts over 7 days, and who are committed to great customer service.
Working in retail can be challenging and rewarding. You will provide excellent customer service which ensures clients of the museum shop have an outstanding retail experience.
You will have a flair for sales, excellent product knowledge and will possess a thorough understanding of the POS and inventory management system. You will work as part of the retail team to achieve sales targets for the shop.
