World Science Festival Queensland in Chinchilla and Gladstone are proudly supported by Shell's QGC Business, as part of the Future Makers partnership with Queensland Museum.

This year our program brings robotics, aerospace, and engineering to life with the theme Robots & Rocketry. This free, educational event will feature several hands-on activities across three exciting and enriching zones:

  • Launch your own rockets in Lift Off and aim for the stars.
  • Dive into Roving Worlds, where you’ll explore robotics and coding to venture into new frontiers.
  • Discover Surviving Space and learn about astrobotany – the science of growing plants beyond Earth.

Plus, see mini exhibitions of creative and innovative invention prototypes made by local student participants of the 2025 Future Makers STEM Inventors Challenge Western Downs and Gladstone Region. Winners will be judged and announced on the day.

In Gladstone, sessions include a multi-media presentation of Epic Engineering, hosted by Angharad “Rad” Yeo (ABC’s Good Game Spawn Point). Students will be astonished by the awesome engineering feats that are shaping tomorrow’s world

Educators will be emailed classroom resources to support learning before and after the event.
