Discovering Ancient Egypt Competition


Terms and Conditions

  1. The entry form and instructions on how to enter form part of the Terms and Conditions.
  2. By entering this Competition, entrants agree to these Terms and Conditions.
  3. “Competition” refers to the Discovering Ancient Egypt ‘Win a $1,000 Queensland Museum shop voucher’ Competition.
  4. The Promoter is Board of the Queensland Museum (ABN: 91 522 611 802), Corner Grey and Melbourne Streets, South Brisbane, Queensland 4101 (“Promoter”).
  5. The Promoter, Prize suppliers and any associated contractors, employees and agents, will not be liable for claims, losses, damages, injuries, costs and expenses suffered, sustained or incurred (including but not limited to indirect/inconsequential loss) as a result of, arising out of, or in any way connected with this Competition and/or its Prize, except for liability that cannot be excluded by law.
  6. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Conditions of Entry at any time if this Competition cannot be run as originally planned. The Promoter may also cancel or suspend this Competition if an event beyond the control of the Promoter corrupts or affects the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Competition. The Promoter will disqualify any individual who has tampered with the entry process or any other aspect of this Competition.
  7. This Competition will be governed by the laws of Queensland.

Eligible entrants

  1. Entry is open to all visitors who have completed the entry form and accepted the Competition Terms and Conditions via one of the QR codes at the Discovering Ancient Egypt exhibition located on Level 3 of Queensland Museum Kurilpa or using a direct link sent to ticket holders in a post-visit eDM between Friday 25 October 2024 and Monday 18 August 2025. Employees of the Promoter and their immediate families, directors, management, related companies, and their agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible.
  2. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or stepchild (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or first cousin.
  3. If an entrant is under the age of 18 years, the entrant must have permission to enter the Competition from a parent or legal guardian who is 18 years or over.

How to enter

  1. This Competition commences at 9am (AEST) on Thursday 24 October 2024 and closes at 5pm (AEST) on Monday 18 August 2025.
  2. Entry to the competition is free.  
  3. To enter, entrants must complete and electronically submit the Competition entry form from their smartphone via the QR codes outside the Discovering Ancient Egypt exhibition, located on Level 3 of Queensland Museum Kurilpa, Corner Grey and Melbourne Streets, South Brisbane, Queensland 4101, or by using a direct link sent to ticket holders in a post-visit eDM between Friday 25 October 2024 and Monday 18 August 2025. Queensland Museum collects entrants’ personal information to conduct the Competition. If the information requested is not provided, the entrant may not participate in the Competition 
  4. Entries not on an official entry form will not be eligible.
  5. Only one entry per email address will be accepted.
  6. All entries become the property of the Promoter.
  7. The Promoter reserves the right to:
    • verify the validity of entries;
    • disqualify an entrant for submitting an entry that is not in accordance with the Conditions of Entry;
    • accept or reject any entry in its sole discretion.
  8. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents, affiliates, or representatives will not be liable for any late, lost or misdirected entries.
  9. The Promoter and their associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for the Prize or entries being damaged, late, or lost.

Judging

  1. This is a game of chance. The Competition winner will be the first entry drawn at random by a representative of the Promoter from the pool of entries.
  2. The draw will take place at 9.30am (AEST) Friday 22 August 2025 following the closure of Discovering Ancient Egypt exhibition at Queensland Museum Kurilpa, Corner Grey and Melbourne Streets, South Brisbane, Queensland 4101.
  3. The Promotor will notify the Competition winner by telephone and/or email within seven (7) working days of the draw.
  4. There will only be one Competition winner.
  5. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Prize

  1. The Competition winner will receive a “Prize” consisting of:
    • A $1,000 Queensland Museum Shop voucher to be used in-person at Queensland Museum’s retail spaces located at Queensland Museum Kurilpa, Corner Grey and Melbourne Streets, South Brisbane, Queensland 4101.
  2. The Prize will be supplied at the time of the winner’s prize acceptance. 
  3. The Prize is valid to use within 12 months from the date of Prize acceptance.
  4. The Prize is not exchangeable or transferable. 
  5. If the Prize or any part of the Prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter’s control, the Promoter will endeavour but is not obliged to provide a substitute Prize of equivalent value.
  6. The Prize is not redeemable for cash.
  7. Proof of identification must be presented by the Competition winner to collect the Prize.  
  8. If the Competition winner does not respond within seven (7) working days from initial contact, a replacement Competition winner will be chosen by a representative of the Promoter and the original Competition winner will forfeit any and all rights to the Prize.
  9. The Competition winner grants the Promoter the right to use their name, biographical information, likeness and statements for use in marketing, promotional and educational activities associated with the Queensland Museum Discovering Ancient Egypt Competition.
  10. When participating in this Competition, the Competition winner must not be involved in any conduct or activity that might damage the reputation of the Promoter.

Privacy notice

  1. Entrants agree to be contacted by the Promoter or Prize in relation to the Competition.
  2. The Promoter adheres to a strict privacy policy. For publicity purposes the Promoter may use the name and if applicable, an image of the Competition winner and persons accompanying the Competition winner.
