Abstract

Species of the Indo-West Pacific shrimp genus Periclimenaeus Borradaile, 1915, can be preliminarily identified using the morphology of the dactylus of the third ambulatory pereiopods. The dactyli of the 60 currently recognised species are illustrated, and are placed into seven discrete groupings. Data is provided on major morphological reports, hosts, type material and general distribution.
