The Anzac Legacy
Overview
The First World War was a traumatic moment in history that changed Australia forever and cost the nation dearly. Thousands of Australians fell in the service of King and Country: many more returned to lead damaged lives in a society struggling with loss. Despite this human tragedy, the shared experiences of all who served helped forge a revered Anzac tradition.
This book tells the stories of just a few Queenslanders whose universal experiences of war and the years beyond mirror the lives of other Australians and of their fellow Anzacs, the New Zealanders. In the centenary year of the Peace of 1919, it is fitting that we remember them and the legacy they bequeathed to future generations.
The Anzac Legacy is a companion publication to the permanent Anzac Legacy Gallery at Queensland Museum Kurilpa.
